On 3 January 2019, Scouts from all over Australia (and the world) embarked on their journey to South Australia for the biggest adventure of their life – Australian Jamboree 2019 – AJ2019. Bibra Lake Scouts joined with Scouts from Goollelal Greenwood, Carlisle, Victoria Park, Secret Harbour, Denmark and Karratha to make B324 – Westwind Troop. Bibra Lake Scouts were accompanied by our Joey Leader – Quenda (Amanda Manson) who was their Assistant Troop Leader – Welfare.
After a flight to Adelaide and a bus ride (that was air conditioned), we arrived at Tailem’s Bend to a fantastic 40 degree day and hot dust storms. The troop were amazing to setup our campsite in these conditions.
Opening parade was held on the 4th January 2019 and this launched 10 days of amazing fun, adventure and friendships for life.
There is no way we can put here all the amazing fun that was had on Jamboree. There are some amazing videos on YouTube by NSW Contingent Media that can give you a snippet of the amazing fun that the Scouts have a Jamboree.
Our campsite was marked with the red arrow below and this gives you an idea of the scale of this event.
The final activity was Market Day and our troop came together with a vast array of skills to run this activity.
Closing parade was the end of the amazing 10 days of fun and we said farewell to friends that we had shared this adventure with however we did make #friendsforlife
Looking forward to Australian Jamboree 2022 (AJ2022)
