On 23rd June 2018, the Joeys and Cubs from Bibra Lake joined with many other Joeys and Scouts from other groups in Western Australia and went on an adventure to Whiteman Park – JOEY CUB DAY 2018 – OUR ADVENTURE OUR JOURNEY was the theme.
With some amazing activities around the theme of travel, the Joeys and Cubs split off into patrols and made their way around the park on trains, trams, vintage buses (MTT) and explored museums and Scout Heritage Centre stall. They also did other activities such as Rover 100 year obstacle course, apple slinkies, STEM, UFO biscuit making and construction/rope making.
It was a fun adventure and many were exhausted by the end of the day. Thanks goes to the amazing organises of this large event.
On Saturday 5th May the Bibra Lake Joey Scouts travelled to Australind to attend the Joey Leap annual branch event with approximately 250 other Joey Scouts from WA.
The Joeys were excited and there were many activities to choose from including a small and larger rock climbing wall, rope bridge, bouncy castle, fire brigade, police, giant games, craft stalls, Rover 100 year/colour pancakes, push carts, face painting and probably more that we didn’t even get to.
It was great seeing the Joeys being unsure and scared of rock climbing and conquering their fears, setting personal goals and getting further than they expected, and some reaching the top.
Another favourite of our Joeys was the rope bridge
It was a fun and exhausting day and I am sure many Joey’s slept on the way back home from Australind.
It was a great day and looking forward to next year’s Joey Leap.
This year’s Cubilee 2017 was Jungle theme and was held at Kelmscott Senior High School.
A fun filled day full of tonnes of activities for the cub scouts.
After lunch, thanks to our new leader in training Chikai, Bibra Lake Cubs managed to do the farm tour and also the sheep shearing presentation.
After this the cubs continued their afternoon of adventure trying to complete as many activities as possible.
Well done to all the leaders and volunteers that made this day amazing. Also to WASP who made an amazing rope bridge with a Jungle theme.
Our Venturer Leilani Gibson (Cub Leader Name: Rikki), has successfully completed and graduated from the Youth Leader Development Program (YLDP). This means that as soon as she turns 18 years old she will become a Adult Leader of the cubs section. Rikki has been working hard completing this training as a youth member, being an important part as a youth leader in the cubs section in addition to school commitments, Venturer activities and working.
Leilani is a perfect example of the leadership opportunities available in scouting and all the leaders at Bibra Lake Scout Group are very proud of her, most of all our Group Leader – Marie Gibson (Chil) who is also Leilani’s mum.
We congratulate Leilani “Rikki” on this huge achievement and look forward to her turning 18 years old and becoming a fully qualified Adult Leader.
The Bibra Lake Cubs attended Scitech for the WA Branch Scitech night. The cubs all had a great night.
On the 12th November 2016, the Bibra Lake Joey Scouts joined with a few hundred other Joey Scouts for the Joey Sleepover. This Joey Sleepover was to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Joey Scouts and had a birthday party theme. It was held in Rockingham. The Joey’s had a great day and finally went to sleep. They had a great time and leaders Quenda and Sona were left exhausted but relieved that the Joey’s had a great time.
On 5th November 2016, the Cubs travelled to Bunbury for Cubillee to celebrate 100th anniversary of Cub Scouts. The cubs had a great time with all the activities and all went home very exhausted.
